A French graveyard

We stayed in the village of Bourg-Charente, very near Cognac, for a wonderful Christmas a couple of years ago. I was sorting out my pictures of that Christmas for an article in the next Saffron Magazine when I came across these pictures I had taken of the local village graveyard. The ways in which we commemorate our loved ones varies hugely in different countries and I have a few collections of pictures like these. You can  draw a mass of inferences about the people of the community and I always find my imagination triggered to dream stories of the people under the stones.
